The Academies Programme
The Project is funded within The Academies Programme of the Union of the German Academies of Sciences and Humanities. It is assigned to the Academy of Sciences and Humanities in Göttingen.
The Academies Programme is a joint initiative by the eight German Academies of Sciences and Humanities under the aegis of the Union of the German Academies of Sciences and Humanities, as well as the Leopoldina, the German National Academy of Sciences, which enables a great variety of projects in the humanities and the social sciences to carry out long-term basic research.
Established for the purpose of retrieving, exploring, and preserving
cultural heritage, one of the main goals of the Academies' Programme
ismaking that cultural heritage accessible to everyone, so that its
relevance for our present-day culture may be conveyed as widely as
possible. In this spirit, the Union of the Academies of Sciences and
Humanities puts a premium on engaging with the public; creating and
hosting many events e.g. for schools and students. Projects in the
Academies Programme are jointly funded by the German Federal Republic
and their respective Federal State - for the Prize Papers Project, this
is the state of Lower Saxony, whereboth the Academy of Sciences and
Humanities Göttingen and the University of Oldenburg are located.
